About the University:
Waseda University (WU) is one of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious universities in Japan. The University has nine campuses all over Tokyo, with its main campus located in Waseda. WU boasts impressive, state-of-the-art facilities, and is home to one of the largest libraries in Japan. Receiving about 900,000 visitors each year, the Central Library has more than 2 million books in its collection.

Beyond its emphasis on quality learning and research, Waseda University also values social responsibility and global citizenship. Some of its special projects involve gender equality, environmental activities, and disaster preparedness. With 44 athletic groups and 560 interest groups known as 'Circles', there is an incredible amount of things to do on campus. The International Community Center (ICC) plans a variety of activities each year that facilitates cross-cultural exchanges, including Kimono, Traditional Japanese dances, flower arrangements, Taiko drumming, homestays, and Waraji/Chopsticks/Oke workshops.

Location:
Waseda is located in the heart of Tokyo, in the Nishi-Waseda district of Shinjuku with convenient access to buses and subway lines. As the current capital of Japan with a population of about 14 million, rising to nearly 20 million on weekdays when commuters arrive for work, Tokyo is the quintessential metropolis. But it is also composed of scores of small and intimate "villages", each with its own character and rhythms. And you are only a short train ride from such other historical and natural sights such as Yokohama, Kamakura, Hakone, and Nikko.

The city is one of the safest in the world and boasts an incredible public transport system. TripAdvisor's 2014 World City Survey ranked Tokyo as first in a few categories including shopping, nightlife, cleanliness, and helpfulness of locals. Tokyo has also received the most Michelin stars out of all the cities in the world. Computerized systems keep the city functioning smoothly; shopping is easy, and information in all languages is readily available. In only a few months after moving there, you will become familiar with those in your neighborhood and they will get to know you.

 About the Exchange Program:
Students can take courses in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Business, and Science & Engineering, all taught in English. Those who wish to further immerse themselves in Japanese culture can enroll in the Japanese Language Program.

Other than the many clubs and societies offered by WU, you are also encouraged to volunteer in activities contributing to cultural preservation and world peace, which are supported by the Hirayama Ikuo Volunteer Center.

WU provides student housing in the dormitories, which promotes opportunities for interacting with Japanese students. The Waseda International Student House (WISH) has communal facilities such as music rooms, fitness rooms, and a Social Intelligence program to help cultivate interpersonal skills. Housing is included in TU tuition.

You can also study at Waseda in the Summer!!
