Program Description:
BEYOND LOGO     
     




     Beyond Sports is a study abroad program tailored to student-athletes. Based in Costa Rica, we use sports- service learning sports clinics and competition- as a vehicle for language acquisition and cultural immersion, and provide student-athletes with a training facility and athletic trainer to prepare during the off-season. Our training regimen is geared to send students home better prepared for their season. We are partnered with two of Central America's best universities to provide strong academic curriculum for our students. We provide opportunities for Jan-term, semester, and summer post-sessions.
 
         Summer Program Highlights

  • Summer programs are offered during the month of May, June, or July.
  • Students typically earn an entire semester of credit in just four weeks!
  • Take a Spanish language course or an elective course taught in English.
  • Train in our private facility with student-athletes from all over the United States.
  • Coach your sport to disadvantaged youth at Beyond's community sports clinics!
  • Two weekend excursions to the beautiful beaches, rainforests, and volcanoes of Costa Rica!
  • All students live with a local host family.
 
Excursions
The program cost includes two weekend excursions to explore different regions of Costa Rica. 
 
Weekend 1: Manuel Antonio Located on the Pacific Coast, Manuel Antonio Nation Park is one of Costa Rica's most biologically diverse parks. Students will see a wide range of wild life including monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and tropical birds! Outside of the park, students will enjoy surfing and relazing on Manuel Antonio's beautiful beaches!
 
Beach
 
Weekend 2: La Fortuna Situated at the base of Volcano Arenal, an iconic cone shaped volcano, La Fortuna is a hub for outdoor adventure. Students will go zip-lining through the rain forest canopy, and over spectacular waterfalls. We'll also visit Baldi Hot Springs- the world's largest naturally heat hot springs- and enjoy a gourmet buffet, relaxing hot springs, and adrenline pumping water slides!

Lunch
Bus/taxi fare to and from class
$29 Airport departure tax (paid at airport)
